this is.... what reminds me of my mum

Phew, where to start?Avon definitely reminds me of Mum. Mum was an Avon Lady back in the 1970s / 1980s and I used to love rifling through all her samples. Particularly the lipsticks which came in these tiny trial sizes, about the diameter of a size 6 knitting needle and about an inch long. There were all these lurid colours, most memorably a really bright orange and a violent magenta. Not sure if Mum ever actually sold anyone a lipstick the colour of a mandarin. To this day, Mum is still an Avon aficionado and her bathroom cabinet is peppered with its huge array of products. Not a birthday has gone by for 30 years or more where I haven't received an Avon product or two.My love of knitting started with Mum (and her Mum) and its something we still share today. Many of our phone discussions are knitting related and its lovely to continue a craft that has been enjoyed by so many women in my family.As much as she may protest, Mum really can't deny that she looks (and dresses and acts) like Kath Day-Knight.
