So I have yet to hear from any of the jobs/internships I have applied to, which I was expecting. I am not quite worried yet. I updated my H&M applicant profile/resume so that way it is sent to the store in woodbridge. Tomorrow they are getting a call from me to make sure that they have received it. Working there would probably be really healthy for me because I would be working in fashion retail (plus my favorite clothing store). I also see it as a way for me to work my way on up to window displays, which will be a really excellent stepping stone for me to do fashion photography, design, and art direction. I must get this job, and if not then I must get something bigger and better and more direct to what I want to do.Though I have no experience in the world of fashion, I believe the biggest challenge is what I am facing which is breaking through the barrier. Yes, I am lucky that I live so close to the city, but I also am up against so many students from FIT/Parsons/ other fashion schools in New York. And these kids probably know more than I do, have better capabilities, not to mention designers usually pick the kids from the fashion schools over people like me, but it's not to say that I will never get an internship of some sorts. That being said I just need to keep plugging away. So I applied for about 8 internship/jobs...so now I should apply double, tripple the amount til I get something. I really think that THIS is the hardest part because once I penetrate the system I can work my way up and meet potential contacts. I want this so bad. I know I'm going to be some one big one day because I refuse to be anything less. Everything I do is done to bring me closer to that. I am a very career driven person. For now I just need to stay positive and not be intimidated or discouraged.Source
